Transformation of our world: the Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development

At the United Nations Sustainable Development Summit on 25 September 2015, 193 countries adopted the new 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, including the Sustainable Development Goals (“SDGs”). The 17 SDGs aim to end poverty, hunger and inequality, take action on climate change and the environment, improve access to health and education as well as build strong institutions and partnerships.
Through these goals, the international community is seeking to foster global economic progress and social justice while recognizing the ecological limits of our planet.

Chemical industry follows sustainability goals

Not only the political leaders of the countries, but also all social partners are requested to make contributions in order to achieve the goals. Decades ago, the chemical industry was one of the first industrial sectors to expressly commit itself to follow sustainable development goals. Since then, the awareness of the need for sustainable action in a broader sense and of the opportunities associated with it has grown and developed beyond the borders of industries and countries.
LANXESS also makes a wide range of contributions to all goals. You can find out what these are below.

In addition, we recently performed a systematic analysis for the first time to determine in which areas and to what extent our priorities for sustainable development – formulated in the material topics – support the SDGs. The results will be published here shortly. We also hosted a round-table discussion on the Sustainable Development Goals in December 2018. More>>
